Is Remote Online Notarization legal?
Yes, The state of Virginia was the first state to make remote notarization legal in 2011. Many other states passed similar laws until the Federal Government passed the Secure Notarization Act of 2023 making it legal in all states. Each state sets their own rates and can establish other state specific standards.
What do I need to complete online Notary Acts?
For most documents you will need a current state issued drivers license. For other services there may be additional requirements.
Do I have to be in the same State and County as the Notary Public?
No, this is the number one benefit of remote online notarization. You can be anywhere and have your documents notarized.
